We’re looking for a Social Media Manager to lead organic social for Whatnot in Germany.
You’ll lead our German social channels day to day, from content planning and creator commissioning to production, publishing, and performance. This is a hands-on creative role for someone who understands German internet culture, knows what makes platform-native content travel, and can quickly turn an idea into a strong piece of content across all of Whatnot's categories, whether that's trading cards, sneakers, fashion, or collectibles.
The goal is simple: make Whatnot one of the most interesting and recognisable brands on German social media.
You will:
Drive the strategy, creative direction, and day-to-day output of Whatnot’s German organic social channels.
Develop, script, produce, film, edit, and publish platform-native short-form content – from seller visits and IRL event coverage, to street-style formats – hosting where appropriate or directing creators and on-screen talent.
Identify and commission relevant German creators across Whatnot’s priority categories and communities, owning outreach, fee negotiation, onboarding, briefing, creative direction, and feedback.
Build a distinctive slate of repeatable formats and owned series that Whatnot Germany can become known for.
Test new ideas quickly, learn from performance, and continually improve formats, hooks, and execution.
Partner with Category Marketing and other teams to identify launches, events, and cultural moments where social can have the greatest impact.
Build clear, scalable workflows for content planning, production, creator commissioning, approvals, and reporting.
We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our Berlin hub.
You're an experienced social creative with strong taste, sharp editorial judgement, and a deep understanding of German internet culture. You move with velocity and drive; you'd rather ship, learn, and iterate than polish endlessly.
You understand what performs on social – and, crucially, why it performs. You care about reach, shares, watch time, and audience growth, but you also understand that distinctive brands are built through consistency, experimentation, and a clear point of view.
People who do well at Whatnot tend to be comfortable figuring things out as they go, biased toward action, and genuinely curious about what they're building. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it.
As our German Social Media Manager, you should have 5+ years in organic social, with experience owning both the strategy and the execution. Plus:
At least C1 German and strong working English.
A track record of growing a channel's reach and audience, not just maintaining its cadence.
Hands-on experience scripting, producing, filming, and editing short-form video.
A portfolio that demonstrates strong creative judgement and platform-native thinking across Instagram and TikTok.
Experience working with creators, including sourcing, outreach, negotiation, briefing, and feedback.
Confidence interpreting social performance data and using it to decide what to repeat, improve, or stop.
Strong organisation and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple productions and creator projects at once.
Comfort building the playbook as you go, testing and learning while maintaining a strong weekly content cadence.
The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with teams across Europe and the US.
Generous Holiday and Time off Policy
Health Insurance options including Medical, Dental, Vision

Monthly allowance for wellness
Annual allowance towards Childcare
Lifetime benefit for family planning, such as adoption or fertility expenses
