The Chair of Social Psychology is based at the Department
of Psychology (Faculty of Human Sciences) and is affiliated
with the Social Cognition Center Cologne and the Center for
Social and Economic Behavior. The team’s research focuses
on judgment and decision making, prosociality, coopera-
tion, and cross-cultural interaction, to which the successful
candidate is expected to contribute.
We are offering a part-time position for a Research Associate/
PhD Student or Postdoc at the Chair of Social Psychology.
YOUR TASKS
» Design and teaching of seminars in the Bachelor‘s
program in Psychology (3 SWS; preferably in German)
» Supervision of Bachelor‘s and Master‘s theses as well as
student assistants
» Research and academic qualification (e.g., doctorate
or habilitation) focusing on judgment and decision-
making and/or prosociality, cooperation, and cross-
cultural interaction
» Participation in academic self-governance
» Dissemination of research findings to the international
scientific community through conference presentations
and publications
YOUR PROFILE
Required qualifications:
» A university degrees (Master’s or equivalent) in
psychology, with above-average marks
» Strong knowledge of quantitative research methods
» Strong knowledge in at least one of the research areas:
judgment and decision making, prosociality, co-
operation, and cross-cultural interaction
» Excellent language skills in German and English
» Commitment, friendliness, openness, and strong
teamwork skills
Desirable qualifications:
» Experience in programming complex experiments and
surveys
» Knowledge of statistical methods for analyzing complex
data (e.g., multilevel modeling, cognitive modeling)
» Experience with data analysis in R, STATA, or comparable
statistical software (e.g., Python)
» Initial experience in university teaching or in conducting
tutorials and courses

the German public sector.
