What to Expect
The Tesla Direct Procurement team is looking to hire a skilled Buyer to manage the entire purchasing process for the EMEA Steel Raw Material commodity. You are involved in the development process for new products from an early stage and you are the link between external suppliers and internal customers. You will be responsible for the carbon steel commodity in EMEA and report functionally to the Global Supply Managers in US, developing synergically global methodologies and strategies. You are also the reference person for Engineering and Material Planning teams on product groups you manag
What You'll Do- Responsible for selecting suppliers and carry out contract negotiations. This is done by focusing on global commodity strategy, quality, specification, price and reliability of supply
- Ensure supplier readiness before SOP and during ramp-up
- Evaluate supplier business proposals and present recommendations that will result in cost savings, avoidance or containment
- Provide guidance on and evaluate final selection of suppliers;
- Based on key performance indicators, you demand continuous improvement from your suppliers
- You strive to involve suppliers as early as possible in our development processes
- Continuously undertake market research and benchmarking in order to benefit from new trends in the global markets. Special focus of research will be on Green steel, with the task to depict sharply the individual mills reality and specific market, shaping a strategy on such novel commodity and define a pricing model that maximizes the value for Tesla .
- Work collaboratively on a cross-functional level with other departments like engineering, supplier industrialization, quality and many more
- New supplier introduction and management
- You manage commodity accounts in the operational level supporting the continuity of Tesla manufacturing
What You'll Bring-
u live raw materials procurement or direct procurement within the automotive or commodity trading sector! You have a drive to make sure that all assigned programs are fully under control for Gigafactory Berlin set-up and growth

You possess a higher vocational or university qualification in a subject such as material engineering, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering or business management, or equivalent experience

Experience in purchasing one or more of the relevant product groups and have in-depth technical knowledge of the products

Knowledge of automotive processes and strong analytics skills: strong analytics (advanced xls. Power BI, AI) and data modelling skills will be a strong plus. Precision in data management, mental agility and problem solving skills are key to the job

Polished negotiation, communication and active listening skills are pivotal for success

You are fluent in English and/or German (Chinese is a plus)
