The role:
The Ground Segment Integration Engineer will work closely with our customer’s team and will provide support in the validation of a ground segment system. This team is responsible for the end-to-end integration, verification, and validation of a satellite ground segment system and must thus guarantee that the ground segment meets technical, and operational requirements.
The role ensures that all subsystems—including mission control, telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C), ground station interfaces, payload data processing, and secure network infrastructure—are correctly integrated and fully operational. Since the integration and validation processes are automated to the maximum, the candidates need to demonstrate strong technical proficiency in C# application development.
Position activities:
-
Integrate hardware and software components of the ground segment, including mission control systems, TT&C, payload processing, and network infrastructure.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability between COTS solutions, custom software, and third-party equipment.
- Support installation and integration at both laboratory and operational sites.
- Review, verify, and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Requirements Definitions (IRD).
- Ensure proper integration of internal subsystem interfaces and external interfaces with satellite operations and partner systems.
- Maintain configuration control over hardware, software, and operational environments.
- Plan, execute, and document integration, verification, and validation activities, including functional, interface, end-to-end, performance, failover, and cybersecurity tests.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), System Validation Tests (SVT), and Operational Readiness Tests (ORT).
- Analyze anomalies, perform root cause investigations, and track corrective actions.
- Validate the ground-to-space operational chain, including telecommand uplinks, telemetry reception, mission timelines, and contingency procedures.
- Participate in operational rehearsals and simulations to ensure mission readiness.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including integration plans, test procedures, reports, anomaly logs, and operational handover materials.
Your profile:
-
Bachelor´s Degree in Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of C# (C-sharp) is essential.
- Ability to provide support directly at the customer’s premises.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with customers.
- Strong analytical skills for problem investigation and resolution.
- Ability to produce clear, structured, and concise reports.
- English B2 or higher (proficiency in German is a big plus).
