As a (Senior) Backend Engineer in the idealo Intelligence team, you will help build the technical foundation that enables us to understand our users better and provide our merchants with data-driven marketing solutions. As part of a newly formed team, you will have the opportunity to build a modern data platform from the ground up and actively shape its architecture, systems, and processes from day one.

Design, develop, and operate backend services and data workflows for processing, anonymising, and enriching large-scale datasets.

Take ownership of the full lifecycle of your services - from architecture and implementation through to production operations.

Build Java and Spring Boot microservices while working with event-driven architectures and cloud-native technologies on AWS.

Ensure high software quality through automated testing, code reviews, and observability best practices.

Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to improve productivity and code quality.

Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams and actively share your knowledge through pair programming, code reviews, and documentation.
Must-have

Several years of experience in backend or platform software development with Java.

Experience with Spring Boot or comparable frameworks.

Experience building and operating cloud-native applications using containerised environments (e.g. AWS, Kubernetes, or Docker).

Experience working with event-driven architectures, for example, Kafka.

Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
