The IHE is an institute at Forschungszentrum Jülich and, together with its H2 Innovation Center and the H2 Demonstration Region, forms the “Helmholtz Cluster for a Sustainable and Infrastructure-Compatible Hydrogen Economy” (HC-H2). Here, the scientific foundations in the field of innovative hydrogen technologies are being laid to advance research and development approaches with high sustainability potential and attractive economic prospects. You will be part of the “Process and Plant Engineering for Chemical Hydrogen Storage (IHE-4)” division. IHE-4 focuses on the process synthesis and validation of complete systems and processes for the production and use of chemical hydrogen storage media such as ammonia, methanol, methane, dimethyl ether, or LOHC. The transition to a sustainable energy and industrial system requires innovative solutions for storage, transport and efficient utilization of renewable energy. Chemical hydrogen carriers, such as ammonia, are of particular interest as they can contribute to the defossilization of industrial processes and future energy supply chains.
This student assistant position offers the opportunity to support ongoing research on ammonia cracking systems through simulation work, data evaluation, visualization, and the investigation of selected aspects within larger research projects.Simulation studies in different software environments
- Contribution to selected subtopics within ongoing research projects
- Programming and data processing
- Preparation, documentation and visualization of scientific results
- Literature reviews
- Ongoing studies in process engineering, energy engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
- Experience in modeling (e.g., using Aspen, AVEVA, Python) is an advantage but not mandatory
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, process engineering, and/or electrochemistry is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to show initiative and work independently
- Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Very good knowledge of German and/or English, both written and spoken
