The Sustainability Engineering team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to drive the definition, development, and continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure standards across Amazon facilities in Europe.
You will join a team which:
- Enables EV charging infrastructure implementation through electrical design definition and review
- Develops grid infrastructure standards spanning high-voltage up to 24 kV (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems, ensuring a coordinated and resilient approach to grid design
- Explores emerging technologies to address evolving sustainability needs, with emphasis on smart grid integration, efficiency, and resilience
- Drives end-to-end deployment of EV chargers and other sustainability technologies across European sites
- Defines processes for procurement and maintenance of electrical and sustainability infrastructure
- Owns cost budgeting, forecasting, and tracking across sustainability programmes

Key job responsibilities
- Own and develop electrical equipment standards, including standard designs for core electrical infrastructure in partnership with manufacturers and internal stakeholders
- Perform design validation and review to ensure compliance with established electrical standards during installation and commissioning of infrastructure
- Act as subject matter expert (SME) for LV and HV (up to 24kV) electrical systems
- Align stakeholder expectations and define technical requirements for EV charging network infrastructure and smart grid deployments
- Drive the technology roadmap for electrical infrastructure, including EV chargers, substations, energy efficiency solutions, and IoT technologies (e.g. smart metres)
- Develop business cases and present recommendations to leadership to secure approval for programme scoping and investment decisions
- Coordinate with programme managers to ensure quality and standards compliance across large-scale installations
- Drive process improvement across commissioning, audit, value engineering, and cost control activities
A day in the life
Your day could include engagement with all levels of the organisation and multiple stakeholder groups to drive short-, mid-, and long-term technical decisions with large-scale impact across the Amazon network. You will also work with partners from Operations, Reliability & Maintenance, Health and Safety, Global Fleet Product, Finance, Procurement, and external vendors to design and deploy electrical infrastructure across Amazon’s operational sites in Europe.
