Join Autonomous Teaming Solutions and help build next-generation drone swarm technology for demanding real-world environments. You will take technical ownership of a mission-critical product, driving it from architecture and development through deployment and delivery.
Working closely with product leadership, you will translate customer and operational requirements into technical strategy, define the engineering roadmap and ensure the team delivers against both technical and business goals.
This is a role for technical engineering leaders. You should bring deep hands-on expertise, strong system understanding and the ability to lead by example.
-
Own the technical vision and architecture of our drone swarm product.
-
Act as the technical counterpart to the Program Director and drive engineering execution across the program.
-
Translate operational and customer requirements into technical goals and engineering milestones.
-
Define the technical roadmap and drive execution from concept through deployment.
-
Make key technical decisions across autonomy, robotics, distributed systems and UAV software.
-
Lead by example through hands-on engineering, debugging and system integration.
-
Guide and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team.
-
Balance fast execution with long-term technical and product scalability.
-
Identify technical risks and work closely with the Program Director and CTO on solutions.
-
At least 5–6 years of experience building robotics, autonomous, distributed or real-time systems.
-
Strong hands-on software engineering background, ideally with C++, Linux and Python.
-
Deep understanding of system architecture and complex interconnected systems.
-
Experience taking technical products from concept through deployment.
-
Proven technical leadership built on engineering expertise rather than project management alone.
-
Strong ownership mindset and ability to make pragmatic technical decisions under uncertainty.
-
Ability to connect engineering priorities with product, customer and business goals.
-
Excellent communication skills and ability to align and motivate engineering teams.
-
Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where execution matters more than process.
-
Experience with autonomous drones, multi-agent systems or swarm robotics.
-
Experience with ROS 2, PX4 or similar robotics and UAV technologies.
-
Experience with distributed systems, networking or vehicle communications.
-
Experience with embedded or edge computing platforms.
-
Background in defence, aerospace or safety-critical systems.
-
Citizenship of a NATO member country or close ally.
-
Willingness to work onsite in Munich and to travel.
-
Take senior technical ownership of cutting-edge autonomous drone swarm technology.
-
Work directly with the Program Director and CTO to shape the product.
-
Build and scale technology with direct real-world impact.
-
Stay hands-on while shaping architecture and engineering strategy.
-
Work on real autonomous systems, not just concepts or simulations.
-
Join a team that values deep technical expertise, ownership and fast execution.
The world is changing. Exponential technologies are enabling new types of security threats. ATS is committed to staying ahead by building nimble, scalable, and cost-effective defences. We are looking for passionate team members who are eager to create exceptional products, safeguard our freedom, and strengthen the resilience of democracies.
Who we are: Autonomous Teaming is a defence-tech start-up specializing in machine vision solutions. Driven by cutting-edge innovation, our team works on next-generation technologies designed to meet rapidly evolving security challenges.
What we do: We develop systems that enable computers and sensors to operate as coordinated teams, collaborating in real time to counter AI-powered asymmetric threats at scale — including drone swarms and other UXVs. Our mission is to build resilient, intelligent defence capabilities that perform reliably in the most demanding environments.
How we work: We value close, in-person collaboration as the foundation for building complex, high-impact technology, while maintaining flexibility aligned to role and team needs. Our culture is built on ownership, responsibility, and trust — with a shared commitment to growing and building together.
Where we are: Based in Munich, Berlin, and Toulouse, we are expanding rapidly across Europe with plans to open additional office hubs.
