Cloud Platform provides a scalable, secure and cost-efficient cloud foundation that enables more than 20 teams at idealo to move fast and focus on what they do best. As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you will design and implement the infrastructure and automation that power our platform. You own platform products end-to-end within the team's domain, from problem analysis through production operation.

Design and manage our AWS multi-account environment, including account lifecycle management and governance mechanisms such as Control Tower and Service Control Policies.

Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Terragrunt and AWS CDK, with a focus on reusable modules and scalable platform foundations.

Own and operate self-service platform products end-to-end including their CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

Own and evolve key networking capabilities including VPC design, DNS management, IP address management and CDN integrations.

Act as a technical partner to engineering teams on platform topics, improving usability, reliability and operational efficiency through reusable solutions and automation.

Contribute to engineering standards, participate in design reviews and mentor engineers within the team.

5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS in a multi-account environment, including Organizations, Control Tower, IAM and Identity Center.

Strong Infrastructure as Code skills with Terraform and Terragrunt, including experience building reusable modules and managing infrastructure across environments.

Strong programming skills with Go, TypeScript, Node.js or Python, with a track record of delivering production-grade automation tooling, CLI tools, Lambda functions or cloud-native services.

Deep networking knowledge, including VPC design, subnetting, DNS, CDN concepts and cross-account connectivity patterns.

Ability to work independently, scope and prioritize work in ambiguous environments without constant guidance.

Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into engineering workflows (agents, tool integration, context management, workflow automation).
Nice to Have

Experience with Kubernetes and GitOps tooling, for example EKS and Argo CD.

Familiarity with managed data services such as Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB Atlas, Aurora or DocumentDB.

Exposure to FinOps practices, cloud cost optimization or security-related services such as AWS WAF, Firewall Manager, Private CA or OIDC federation.
