We are seeking a talented commercial lawyer to support our European and UK businesses across a broad range of legal, regulatory and commercial matters. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer and working closely with colleagues across the legal team, you will provide practical, business-focussed advice that enables the business to achieve its objectives while managing legal and regulatory risk. This is a hybrid workplace role.
This is a varied role, with a particular focus on legal escalations arising from our marketplace operations, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of legal processes. You will work closely with stakeholders across Product, Technology, Customer Service, Marketing, Finance and HR in a fast-paced international environment.
Key responsibilities
Advise internal stakeholders across the UK and Europe on a broad range of commercial, legal and regulatory matters.
Manage legal escalations and disputes arising from platform operations, assessing legal and commercial risk and recommending pragmatic solutions.
Review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including technology, marketing, procurement and supplier contracts.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across the UK and EU, assess their impact on the business and support implementation of any required changes.
Identify legal and regulatory risks arising from day-to-day operations and work with stakeholders to implement appropriate mitigation measures and process improvements.
Assist with legal project management and coordination across multiple jurisdictions.
Prepare guidance, templates and training materials to improve legal awareness and support compliance across the business.
Job requirements
Qualified lawyer and have at least 2 years of experience with a reputable law firm or in-house
Fluent in English. Additional European languages would be advantageous but are not essential
A true generalist, having advised on a variety of topics with a strong understanding of commercial and privacy laws
Excellent communications and negotiation skills
Pragmatic and commercial approach to legal matters
At ease working in an international environment with multicultural backgrounds
Demonstrates initiative and enjoys improving processes and identifying practical solutions to legal and operational issues
An interest in legal technology and AI, with a willingness to adopt tools that improve efficiency and scalability
Ideally, experience with fast-growing companies, either as an external advisor or in-house counsel
