Head of Sales – Sea & Air | Hamburg
Lead the commercial growth of LEMAN Germany.

We are looking for a commercially driven Head of Sales to lead and grow our Sea & Air business in Germany.
This is a hands-on commercial leadership role for someone who thrives on winning new business, enjoys being close to customers, and wants to play a key role in building LEMAN’s position in the German market.
You will lead a small commercial team while remaining highly active in the market yourself. Supported by a strong Air & Sea Product organisation, you will focus on developing customers, creating new business opportunities, and driving profitable growth.
With around 20 colleagues in Germany today, LEMAN has ambitious growth plans. This is an opportunity to influence the commercial direction of the business and help shape its future.
Reporting directly to the CEO Germany, you will become a member of the German Leadership Team. You will also work closely with, and have a dotted reporting line to the Group Chief Commercial Officer based at LEMAN’s global headquarters in Denmark.
Your impact
This is first and foremost a commercial growth role.
Your success will be measured by your ability to win new business, strengthen our market position, and build long-term customer relationships.
While you will lead a small sales team, your primary focus will be developing the business. You will spend time in the market, meet customers, identify new opportunities, and help shape the commercial strategy for Germany.
You will be supported by experienced Air & Sea Product specialists who provide operational expertise, pricing support, and solution development. This allows you and your team to focus on customers, commercial opportunities, and growth.
Working closely with Product, Operations, Pricing, and our global agent network, you will ensure that LEMAN delivers competitive solutions that create long-term value for our customers.
As a member of the German Leadership Team, you will contribute beyond sales and help shape the overall direction and continued development of LEMAN Germany.
What you will do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of two Account Executives
- Drive new business acquisition across Air & Sea freight
- Develop strategic customer relationships and identify new market opportunities
- Build and manage a strong commercial pipeline
- Lead customer meetings, negotiations, and commercial discussions
- Support decisions on pricing, tenders, and profitability
- Work closely with Air & Sea Product and Operations to develop competitive customer solutions
- Strengthen LEMAN’s position in the German Air & Sea market
- Develop collaboration with global agents and commercial stakeholders across the LEMAN network
- Contribute actively to the German Leadership Team and the wider commercial direction of the business
What we’re looking for
You understand both the commercial and operational side of international freight forwarding.
Most importantly, you are an entrepreneurial commercial profile with a strong hunter mentality. You enjoy building business, creating opportunities, and taking ownership.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Proven commercial experience from an international freight forwarding company comparable to LEMAN
- A successful track record selling both Air Freight and Sea Freight solutions
- Strong experience in new business development and customer acquisition
- Fluency in both German and English, spoken and written
- Current residence within a reasonable commuting distance of Hamburg
- A solid understanding of freight forwarding operations, pricing, tenders, and profitability
Applications from candidates without relevant freight forwarding industry experience, proven Air & Sea sales experience, fluency in both German and English, or current residence within a reasonable commuting distance of Hamburg will not be considered.
