Your responsibilities
As an Industrial AI & Analytics Engineer, you will help shape the next generation of data-driven solutions for the process industry. Your focus goes beyond analyzing data or developing machine learning models—you will identify, evaluate, and implement high-value use cases that create tangible business value for both our customers and our engineering organization. You will work at the intersection of data analytics, artificial intelligence, engineering, and software development. Leveraging modern technologies such as Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), and advanced data platforms, you will transform industrial data into actionable insights, predictions, and intelligent assistance systems. We are not looking for someone who simply analyzes data. We are looking for someone who recognizes opportunities, translates data into concrete recommendations, and applies modern AI technologies to create sustainable value for our customers, products, and engineering processes. You will be supported by a highly motivated team, strong management commitment to digital transformation, and numerous opportunities to actively shape innovative AI and analytics solutions.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement data-driven use cases that deliver measurable value for our customers, products, and business processes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, service, and business departments to identify optimization and automation opportunities.
- Work hands-on with industrial data, develop prototypes, and validate new AI and analytics concepts.
- Develop predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions for industrial applications.
- Perform what-if analyses to support data-driven decision-making.
- Transform complex datasets into meaningful insights, visualizations, and actionable recommendations.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of modern data platforms, data models, and data pipelines.
- Apply modern AI technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs), agent-based systems, and Generative AI to develop innovative solutions.
- Maintain and optimize existing machine learning models with respect to reusability, performance, robustness, and scalability.
- Perform model drift analysis and develop monitoring, governance, and automated retraining strategies.
- Coordinate external partners and globally distributed development teams from a technical perspective.
- Take an active hands-on role throughout the entire solution lifecycle—from idea and proof of concept to productive deployment.
- Contribute to the strategic development of our AI and Analytics roadmap for internal and customer-facing digital products.
Your profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
- Initial practical experience in Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Data Science.
- Solid programming skills in Python and experience with modern data science and analytics frameworks.
- Experience working with SQL, databases, and structured data.
- Basic understanding of modern data architectures, cloud platforms, and data pipelines.
- Strong interest in industrial processes, data-driven products, and digital transformation.
- Knowledge of Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Large Language Models (LLMs), or Generative AI is considered an advantage.
- High level of initiative, curiosity, and the ability to identify opportunities and transform them into practical solutions.
- Hands-on mentality combined with a pragmatic, solution-oriented working style.
- Ability to technically coordinate external partners and international teams while driving results collaboratively.
- Passion for evaluating emerging technologies and translating them into practical business value.
- Language Skills
- German: desirable
- English: fluent, both written and spoken (mandatory)
- Willingness to undertake occasional short international business trips.
Location & Working Model
The position is based at thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbH in Dortmund, Germany.
We offer a flexible hybrid working model with home office options. However, regular on-site presence is essential for successful collaboration and execution of the role.
