Who we are
Kita TreeHaus is a small, award-winning bilingual nursery and kindergarten in Berlin-Wilhelmsruh, caring for 21 children aged 1 to 6. We opened in 2019 in a former flower shop... high ceilings, lots of natural light, and an atmosphere that tells you from the moment you walk in: early childhood education is taken seriously here.
Our two pedagogical pillars are bilingual education (German–English) using the "one person, one language" approach, and Anti-Bias education, which guides everything we do. In December 2023 we received a 5-star rating in our external quality review. We are operated by Weltkinder gGmbH and are a member of DaKS Berlin.
What we offer
- Salary at 96% of TV-L S, pay grade S8a, based on qualification and experience
- Part-time position, 20–30 hours/week, Monday to Friday (08:00–17:00)
- A small, close-knit team: you won't be a number, you'll be a real member of the family
- Flat hierarchies and short decision-making paths: your ideas are genuinely welcome
- Open, honest communication: not a company slogan, our actual daily practice
- Rudy, our therapy dog, who has a reliable talent for making mornings better
What we're looking for
- State-recognised early childhood educator qualification, or an equivalent qualification recognised in Berlin
- Fluent in English OR German, ideally both
- Genuine enjoyment of working with children aged 1–6
- Openness to our pedagogical approach: Berlin Education Programme, Anti-Bias, bilingualism
- Reliability, warmth, and the ability to think as part of a team
Who this role is right for
One year, fixed-term — for some that's a dealbreaker. For others, it's exactly what they need. This role is a great fit if you:
- are returning from parental leave and want to ease back in before committing long-term
- have just completed your training and are looking for a purposeful first professional home
- have moved to Berlin from an English-speaking country and want to get properly established
- have a change planned in a year — further study, travel, a family project — and want to do something meaningful first
We don't rule out an extension, but we only promise what we can deliver.
