We are scaling from building tools one at a time toward a repeatable, world-class operation capable of supporting global growth. As Head of Operations, you will define and execute the operational strategy for our complex, high-precision capital equipment, overseeing how our systems are sourced, built, tested, delivered, and serviced worldwide.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with Engineering, Product, and the wider Leadership team to build a scalable operations organisation, balancing in-house capabilities with a network of specialist suppliers and partners. Within your first 12–18 months, you will establish the processes, team, and operational foundation needed to support our next phase of commercial growth while maintaining the quality and execution standards expected in the semiconductor industry. For the right person, the role offers a clear path toward COO as the company scales.
Founded in 2022 as a spin-off of TU Munich, QD leverages quantum sensors to rapidly capture three-dimensional current maps within multi-layer chips. Our strong, international team of over 60, including physicists, engineers, data scientists, and other experts, works side by side with major semiconductor manufacturers, supporting chip debugging and accelerating yield analysis. Backed by top-tier deep tech investors, semiconductor experts, and strategic public programs, we have ensured long-term stability, shifting from breakthrough to scale - and shaping the next chapter in chip testing.
Picture this:
-
A machine that catches what others miss – in milliseconds.
-
Physics, data, and engineering are working hand in hand to build tools that matter.
-
An international team, who loves solving hard problems and where knowledge flows fast.
Still unsure about why joining us?
-
You'll get to build a company together with a brilliant and welcoming team on a product that has never been done before.
-
Our technology is the cutting edge of tomorrow, starting today and not in 10 years.
-
You will work directly with major semiconductor companies from Day 1.
-
You'll get virtual shares and act on behalf of the entire company, beyond just your own team.
-
You’ll be part of a high-growth company backed by top-tier investors.
Let’s make the invisible visible!-
Own the manufacturing strategy for our capital equipment product suite, following an ASML-style model that combines in-house core competencies with a managed network of specialist suppliers and integrators
-
Run and optimize low-volume, high-mix production, balancing configurability and customization against repeatability, quality, and cost
-
Define and continuously optimize the make-versus-buy balance, leading insourcing of critical capabilities and outsourcing of non-core modules as the product scales
-
Build and manage highly complex, global supply chains end-to-end, including supplier qualification, single-source risk mitigation, procurement, and inventory for long-lead and specialist components
-
Drive design for manufacturing and custom design of subsystems, working with hardware and product development to make the product buildable, testable, and serviceable
-
Scale production from low-volume assembly toward repeatable manufacturing, defining line layout, cleanroom and assembly workflows, and throughput and yield targets
-
Introduce automation and standardized processes to increase throughput, quality, and consistency as volumes grow
-
Build a global service organization for installation, commissioning, maintenance, and 24/7 customer support across Europe, the US, and Asia
-
Establish spare-parts management and logistics, including forecasting, stocking strategy, and regional distribution to meet customer uptime commitments
-
Own manufacturing quality, safety, and compliance, and establish the systems and metrics to manage them
-
Hire, build, and lead the manufacturing, service, and supply chain teams as the function scales
-
Proven experience leading manufacturing for complex, high-precision capital equipment, ideally within the semiconductor equipment industry
-
Strong track record operating in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments with complex, configurable products
-
Experience defining and executing manufacturing strategies that balance in-house capabilities with a network of specialist suppliers and manufacturing partners

QuantumDiamonds GmbH, headquartered in Munich, Germany, develops and manufactures semiconductor inspection systems based on quantum sensing. Spun out of the Technical University of Munich in 2022, the company uses nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond to map electrical current with micrometer precision inside advanced 2.5D and 3D chip architectures. Nine of the world's ten largest semiconductor manufacturers are engaged with QuantumDiamonds, with systems deployed across Europe, the United States, and Asia. The company is investing €152 million to build the world's first production facility for quantum sensing-based semiconductor inspection tools, supported under the European Chips Act.
