Position: IT Lead
Location: Hennigsdorf, Germany (Hybrid)
Type: Full-time
Experience Level: Mid-level to Senior
About the Role
We are seeking a self-motivated and experienced IT lead to manage a secure, robust, and scalable data communication platform for our teams across countries and departments. This role spans managing and scaling a backend IT system, creating internal tools and processes for effective data sharing, using and keeping up with the latest AI tools, and enforcing and auditing data compliance policies.
Above all, we are looking for a reliable IT leader who is self-driven and motivated. The IT lead should actively seek best-in-class IT and AI tools rather than relying on outdated methods of the past. This leader should be able to pinpoint risks and inefficiencies and be able to quickly adopt solutions for the team. Most important is this IT leader should be able to teach and interact with the team on a daily basis.
Immediate Priority
A central priority for this role is leading Betterguards into a fully cloud IT infrastructure by moving the company off its on-premise servers and fully migrating from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace. This is a company-wide initiative affecting every team member across our offices in Germany and the United States. Our teams have built established workflows around Microsoft tools, including Outlook for email, calendar, and contacts, SharePoint and OneDrive for file storage and collaboration, and Microsoft Intune for device management. Alongside this, Betterguards currently operates on- premise servers that host internal services, file storage, and networked resources. The IT Lead will own the full scope of this transition, covering the migration of email, calendaring, identity, and file storage into Google Workspace and Google Cloud, the transition of Active Directory and Entra ID to Google Directory, and the decommissioning of on-premise hardware once cloud equivalents are live and stable. This is a significant undertaking, and we are looking for someone who has done this before. You should come in with a clear methodology, an understanding of where migrations like this typically go wrong, and the communication skills to bring a non-technical team along with you through the change.
