As part of our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) division, you, as an Acquisitions Editor Physical Sciences, will play a key role in shaping and growing our German-language legacy portfolio of journals and books. You'll scout out new publishing opportunities, drive our strategic goals, and ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish. A major part of your success will come from building strong, lasting relationships—connecting with researchers, editors, and thought leaders across the physical sciences community to spark new ideas and collaborations.
Salary range for the position - 8000- 11000 PLN gross/month when based in Poland

Your tasks
Strategic development and international alignment of our Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science. Industrial Chemistry) portfolio in close coordination with our Vice President Publishing for STEM GSA (Germany Switzerland Austria).
Acquisition of a publication portfolio (books, book series, electronic resources, journals) with a focus on the GSA market.
Expansion and fostering of academic networks with authors, editors, societies, and research institutes, especially cultivating our legacy portfolio.
Budget responsibility for project signings and output toward achieving economic objectives.
Research the market and analyze, manage and delevolp the portfolio to identify growth opportunities and secure new publishing opportunities, including the launch or acquisition of journals, books, series, and major reference works in physical sciences
Lead negotiations and strategic discussions with partners and external collaborators
Taking sustainable decisions by watching the return on investments and meeting the group’s objectives
Close collaboration with our editorial office, production, and sales teams
Representation of the department at academic conferences.

Your profile
A Master’s degree or ideally a PhD in one of the Physical Sciences disciplines
Experience in academic publishing or a related field, with a solid understanding of the industry
An acquired knowledge of the market and a strong interest in different (digital) publishing forms
Excellent communication and networking skills, able to build strong relationships within the scientific community and all internal and external stakeholders
Familiarity with digital publishing formats and workflows, and an interest in industry trends
Proactive, goal-oriented, with strong time management and a balance between independent work and teamwork
Quick to learn new tools and systems
Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and German
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
