The Role

Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Tooling Engineer, who will be responsible for the tooling engineering of Can Stamping Engineering consisting of Cupping, Deep-Drawing, Washing, Drying and Conveying for the Gigafactory in Berlin. You will be responsible for the future capacity expansion and support Operations.

What You'll Do

Acts based on directions by the manager and undertakes actions for part, tool and die / process engineering improvement of new production plans
Responsible for executing the job with focus on cost, quality and timing
Builds and maintains an attitude of team player to fellow positions within the home organization
Builds and maintains an attitude of team player to fellow positions to attached and interacting organizations
Acts in accordance with environmental, health and safety regulations.
Acts in accordance with compliance and security regulations
Responsible for die designs including selection of material, hardening and coating
Responsible for executing die builds for prototypes and serial production including vendor selection and project management
Responsible for the design FMEA with the selected vendor
Responsible for cost monitoring, punch list and final buy-off
Responsible for ordering first set of die spare parts and database set-up in the maintenance business software
Supports development of fixtures and supporting devices including easing ergonomic inconvenience
Supports update and maintenance of die standards on an international level
Supports the Process FMEA and contributes to zero-defect policy.
Supports simulation of metal forming jobs
Observes and highlights state-of-the-art development in the field of automobile production metal forming and related industries
Works closely with the Equipment and Process Engineering teams during the commissioning and ramp of new equipment, parts and processes to learn the system and pinpoint any improvement potential
works closely with Manufacturing team to ensure spare parts availability and improve its process with focus on cost, quality and timing

What You'll Bring

Bachelor / Master of Science in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering. The equivalent in experience is also acceptable with evidence of exceptional ability
Previous experience in working in and acting with multiple groups of professionals
Previous experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing (beverage among others) is highly desired
previous experience in manufacturing prototypes or serial production with CNC machining process
knowledge of CAM such as Tebis ideally
Strong knowledge of CATIA as well as Autoform ->change-> Strong knowledge of CAD such as SolidWorks, Catia or Autoform
Previous experience in (high-speed-) stamping manufacturing
Previous experience in technical washing and drying including contamination standards VDA 19
Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical die designs
Strong knowledge of CATIA as well as Autoform
Solidly organized, with meticulous attention to detail
Able to work under intense time pressure in the presence others
Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio / Project, Jira, Confluence
Travel is included, including some internationally may be required from time to time
Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
Fluent in German and English language skills
